Talking About Air Conditioners

Signs Your Walk-In Cooler May Need Repairs

A walk-in cooler is an important piece of equipment you want to be sure you keep in great running condition. Part of keeping it running how it should is being able to spot warning signs that can let you know the cooler is in need of repairs. Here are some of the warning signs you should pay attention to with your walk-in cooler:

The temperature fluctuates

If the walk-in cooler is struggling to keep a consistent temperature, then this can indicate that there may be a significant issue going on with the cooler. Not only can some of the food in your cooler be at risk from temperature fluctuations, but the cooler itself may be in danger of more serious problems in the near future if you don't have the issue fixed now.

There is damage to the door

The door of the walk-in cooler is very important. It has a seal that helps to prevent air leaks that can cause the temperature of the cooler to be affected. It will also cause the cooler to run constantly as it tries to achieve the right temperature. If you notice there is any damage to the seal of the door, then you want to have it repaired right away.

There are water leaks

Air leaks aren't the only leaks you need to be concerned about with your walk-in cooler. You also want to be on the lookout for water leaks. If you see wet areas around or inside the cooler, then this can mean there is damage to a seal. Or, there could be an HVAC or plumbing problem going on. This needs to be tended to right away to avoid issues with things like mold and mildew, which could affect your next health inspection. Also, leaking water causes a safety hazard and can lead to a pest problem.

There is a buildup of frost or ice

Watch for frost or ice where it shouldn't be inside the cooler. If you are seeing frost or ice, then this means that the cooler isn't cooling as it should be. You want to have someone come out and check it out right away to ensure the problem is found and repaired.

There are odors

Make it a point to smell the inside of the cooler each day. You want to check for a chemical smell that's almost sweet smelling. A sweet chemical smell lets you know that there is a coolant leak somewhere that needs to be repaired right away.
